Yom Yerushalayim
Jerusalem Day celebrates the reunification of Jerusalem. From 1948, when the State of Israel was formed, until 1967, Jerusalem was a divided city, half belonging to Israel and half to Jordan. The Old City, which contains holy sites of all three major religions, was under Jordanian control. In the Six Day War in 1967, Israel won control of the entire city and Jerusalem remains an Israeli city to this day.
