PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION (PTO)

The MJDS Parent Teacher Organization is an active volunteer group that provides educational and enrichment programming for students and their families. The goal of PTO is to develop and maintain active participation by parents, support student and staff needs, and encourage positive communication among parents, teachers and staff.
Funds from PTO-sponsored activities help provide enrichment programming, special classroom supplies, uniforms for our athletic teams, special all-school lunches, appreciation gifts for staff, and other needs that arise during the school year.  Parents’ $18 annual dues establish the PTO’s initial operating budget.
PTO volunteer opportunities abound, and projects can be on-going or occasional. A sampling of PTO activities includes: room parents (2 per class), Special Interest Day, Teacher Welcome Back Luncheon, challah deliveries, gift baskets for new families, PTO lunches each Wednesday, Spirit Wear, school pictures, and parking/safety issues.
Information about PTO activities during the year can be found in Yom Hashishi, the MJDS Friday newsletter.
