In the fall of 1981, a small group of families, five community rabbis and founding director Doris Shneidman committed themselves to a dream. These pioneer individuals, with help from the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and countless benefactors, established a thriving educational institution that welcomed Jewish children from all Jewish affiliations.
Milwaukee Jewish Day School has grown from 11 kindergarten students in makeshift classrooms to an enrollment of more than 300 students in Jr. Kindgergarten-8th grade. The school has moved twice and has just completed a multi-million dollar renovation as part of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation's Capital Campaign.
MJDS offers a nurturing and safe environment within a newly renovated building located on the Karl Jewish Community Campus. The campus, which is owned and operated by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, also houses the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, and other agencies utilized by our families.
