History and Campus

In the fall of 1981, a small group of families, five community rabbis and founding director Doris Shneidman committed themselves to a dream. These pioneer individuals, with help from the Milwaukee Jewish Federation and countless benefactors, established a thriving educational institution that welcomed Jewish children from all Jewish affiliations.

Milwaukee Jewish Day School has grown from 11 kindergarten students in makeshift classrooms to a full Jr. Kindgergarten-8th grade school in a beautiful facility owned by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation.

MJDS offers a nurturing and safe environment within a newly renovated building located on the Karl Jewish Community Campus. The campus, which is owned and operated by the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, also houses the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center, B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, and other agencies utilized by our families.
