Admissions Process

Our admissions process begins upon your introduction to Milwaukee Jewish Day School. The best way to appreciate MJDS is to visit and see our students and teachers in action. Personalized tours and interviews are scheduled throughout the year. We look forward to sharing the richness of MJDS with you.

School Visit

During the tour, you will have the opportunity to meet with the administration and teachers. The Admissions Office can arrange for you to spend time observing in our classrooms. A separate classroom visit will be scheduled for your child. Students applying to grades 1-8 spend time visiting MJDS in their current grade class. This enables your child to experience MJDS and allows our staff to meet your child.

Screening

During the admissions process, we gather information regarding the social, emotional, and cognitive development of each applicant. Information will be requested from prior educational settings, and we will administer developmentally appropriate screening and testing. Children must be 4 years old by September 1, to enter Jr. Kindergarten, and 5 years old by September 1, to enter Sr. Kindergarten.

Financial Assistance

Finanical Assistance is available by submitting a completed Community Student Aid Form. Funding for financial assistance is provided by Helen Bader Foundation and MJDS. Confidential applications are reviewed annually by impartial committees.Tuition and scholarship information is always kept strictly confidential.

Enrollment Steps

1. Contact the Admissions Director Susan Farber for information and a school admissions packet: sfarber@mjds.org or (414) 967-8314.

3. Complete and submit the Enrollment Application, which includes the Authorization for Disclosure of Confidential Information, a non-refundable fee of $100, and a copy of your child’s birth certificate.

4. Applicants for kindergarten may participate in a scheduled play group at MJDS to facilitate our screening process. Children entering grades 1– 8 will spend time in an MJDS classroom corresponding to their current grade. Applicants may participate in an age-appropriate developmental assessment.

5. Once the completed Enrollment Application has been received and the visit and assessments have been completed, the Admissions Office will review all relevant information before making final acceptance decisions.

We look forward to meeting with you and beginning the admissions process.
