While many schools are cutting their arts budgets, this is not the case at MJDS, where the arts are alive and thriving. With the renovation of the arts wing and addition of several new programs and equipment, the MJDS art program continues to be the vibrant core of our school.
Our ceramic kiln and slab roller allow students to create, fire and glaze pottery. Hand drums for kindergarteners helps them learn eye and hand coordination. This school year is our fourth year of involvement with the Milwaukee Art Museum's Junior Docent Program for third through fifth graders. Students will visit The Milwaukee Symphony and First Stage Children's Theater, have the opportunity to take violin and piano lessons from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and learn from talented musicians and artists from the Milwaukee community.
