In health class, 7th graders will learn how drugs can interfere with the things students like to do right now as well as preventing people from reaching important goals in the future. The unit focuses on the most commonly abused drugs: alcohol, tobacco and marijuana. We study specifically what happens physically as these drugs enter the body. We also discuss the emotional, psychological and legal implications of drug use. We will have projects to examine how drugs affect families, friends and the community.
