Kindergarten Hebrew/ Jewish Studies

In Hebrew and Jewish studies we just completed a unit on mitvot and tzedakah.  The students know that while a common understanding of the word "mitzvah" is a good deed, its true definition is "commandment".  We are commanded to give tzedakah, feed the hungry, visit the sick, etc.  We made tzedakah boxes, discussed our upcoming food drive for our "100" day celebration, and made get well cards for students in our school who are ill.

We are currently learning about T'u Bishvat, which occurs on Tuesday, January 22, and will be discussing Jewish life in the Netherlands for our Junior Kindergarten studentsm and Jewish life in Italy for our Senior kindergarten students.  This is in conjunction with the students preparing for our school's upcoming Folk Fair.

We learned Hebrew words for winter and winter clothing, and are currently learning words for general clothing and colors.
